Qantas Rejects Engineering Union's Claim
Qantas Airways Limited | Feb. 06, 2007
On February 6, Qantas rejected claims by the Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association (ALAEA) that its employees were being pressured to break maintenance procedures.
The Executive General Manager of Qantas Engineering, Mr David Cox, said Qantas would never compromise its standards.
"The ALAEA is moving down a time-honoured path during times of change and during Enterprise Bargaining negotiations - that is make wild allegations and use spurious research to back their arguments," Mr Cox said.
Mr Cox said the ALAEA's allegations were a slur on its own members.
"Qantas and its employees work to strict regulations and those regulations drive our business. We will not be deterred from strengthening our business and the employment prospects of our people by self-serving statements by certain Unions," Mr Cox said.
