Tiger Airways Pte Ltd | Feb. 08, 2007
Tiger Airways, Singapore's low fare airline, has clocked up impressive On-Time Punctuality Performance (OTP) for 2006, with a monthly average of almost 85% of all flights operated by the airline being on-time. This unrivalled performance by Tiger Airways beat its closest competitor, Air Asia, whose monthly OTP for 2006 reported on its website averaged 81.4%. Tiger Airways performance in the peak travel month of December was even more impressive with 86% of its flights departing on-time versus only 72% of flights operated by Air Asia.
"Achieving such high levels of punctuality on a sustained basis is a fantastic result for Tiger Airways customers. The airline has been determined to provide its customers with reliable and on-time flights, and we are glad to have achieved this result through the focus and determination of the Tiger Airways team," said Tiger Airways Director of Operations Captain Christopher Ward.
"Tiger Airways passengers have come to rely on the airline to provide a punctual, professional and reliable service, especially our business travelers. Tiger Airways gives punctuality a high focus as well as other time and money savers, such as moving to the Budget Terminal. The Budget Terminal has enabled Tiger Airways to achieve greater operational efficiency and significant cost reductions allowing for more low fares and benefits to our passengers such as a shorter minimum check-in times."
Note: The air travel industry defines a flight departure to be "on-time" if it departs from the gate within 15 minutes of the scheduled departure time. Neither diverted nor cancelled flights count as on-time.
