The first aircraft has landed at Gladstone Airport since the completion of the first stage of the AU$65 million upgrade.
The western end of the runway has been reconstructed and extended, but work is continuing on the eastern end.
The overall runway will be shorter until that work is completed.
QantasLink will be operating smaller 36-seat aircraft for the next month.
The first of those Dash 8-200s landed in Gladstone on Sep. 16.
