Brazilian airline Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras SA has signed an OnPoint solution agreement with GE Aviation.
The agreement is worth about US$1 billion over its 15-year life. It calls for GE Aviation to perform maintenance, repairs and overhaul of the CF34-10E engines that power Azul's fleet of Embraer 190/95 aircraft.
The airline has four leased Embraer jets and 36 on order, according to a news release.
"With this OnPoint solution agreement, GE will be responsible for managing Azul's engine maintenance needs, so we can focus all of our attention on operating the airline and satisfying our customers," said Gerald Lee, vice president of business and corporate affairs with the airline.
The work will be performed at GE Aviation's GE Celma facility in Petropolis, Brazil, according to the release.
Azul, founded in 2008, flies between Brazil's main cities.
Evendale-based GE Aviation is a unit of General Electric Co., headquartered in Fairfield, Conn.
