CAAC, USTDA Signs Agreement on US$880,000 Grant

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Deputy Administrator Xia Xinghua Tuesday signed a grant agreement with U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) Director Ms Lee Zak.
According to the agreement, USTDA continues its support of the ongoing U.S.-China Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP) by committing an additional US$880,000 to the seventh phase of the successful partnership between USTDA, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), U.S. industry and CAAC.
Based on the negotiation between the two sides, the U.S. government and aviation industy are willing to cooperate with CAAC in 2011 on an Executive Management Training program, an Air Traffic Management Executive Training program, and the development of an Air Traffic Flow Management Playbook to reduce flight delays' impact on environment.
It is reported that CAAC signed a U.S.-China Aviation Cooperation Program Memorandum with USTDA on the U.S.-China Aviation Cooperation Forum on April 6, 2004. The Program aims to provide professional training for Chinese aviation professionals, facilitate extensive cooperation in aviation industry of both sides and help Chinese aviation experts build and operate safe and effective aviation framework.
In addition to Tuesday's grant, CAAC has received US$6.99 million from USTDA, in the prior sixth phases from 2004 to 2010, to support its civil aviation staff training, aircraft airworthiness certification, flight standard management, air traffic management, airport management, etc. To date, the ACP has achieved great success.
