Europe-China Aviation Education Program Marks 10th Anniversary
Airbus S.A.S. | May 25, 2011
More than 400 graduates have successfully obtained their master degree or diploma from the Aviation Safety Management Master Program (ASM Master Program), which is jointly developed and implemented by Airbus and its European and Chinese partners, namely the Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile (ENAC) and Institut Superieur de L'Aeronautique et de L'Espace (ISAE) of France and the Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC).
2011 marks the 10th anniversary for the launch of the project to develop this joint program, which was initiated by the International Airworthiness Cooperation Department of Airbus in 2001. Airbus initiation was welcomed and enthusiastically supported by ENAC, ENSICA (it is now named as ISAE) and CAUC. The first session started in 2003 and the first group of master students graduated in 2004.
This year, 53 new graduates of the program received their master degree or diploma in Airworthiness, Flight Operations and Aeronautical Maintenance at a graduation ceremony held on May 25, 2010 at CAUC in Tianjin. This is the seventh group of graduates from the program, which lead the total number of graduates to exceed 400. Fifty-five more students have been recruited for the 2011-2012 program in Maintenance and Airworthiness. Each year, more and more students propose their candidature to get enrolled in this Aviation Safety Management Programme.
Financed and technically supported by Airbus, the ASM Master Program is taught at CAUC premises, jointly with ENAC and ISAE. The program has been strongly supported by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the Chinese aviation authority.
The program was developed to create a state-of-the-art educational program in China on civil aviation safety management and to train future professionals to the highest international standards with a final French diploma from ENAC and ISAE which is recognized in both France and China. Today, graduates from the program are working for airlines, airworthiness authorities, maintenance organizations, airports, air traffic control providers and educational institutions, mainly in the field of aviation safety, playing an important role in promoting aviation safety management in China.
To graduate, the students have to complete the curriculum and successfully present their theses to the Jury of Chinese and French professors.
Mr. Zhang Jian Qing, Director of International Affairs department of Tianjin Education Committee, Philippe Lin, Airbus China Vice President, Professor Wu Tongshui, President of CAUC, Marc Houalla, President of ENAC and Olivier Fourure, President of ISAIE, as well as other people from the aviation industry and officials of Tianjin attended the ceremony.
