On June 9, 2011, China Southern Airlines Co., Ltd. (CZ) started a flight service between Urumch, capital of Xinjiang in northwestern China, and Tbilisi, the capital and largest city of Georgia.
CZ finally launched the Urumchi-Tbilisi route after four years' preparation. It is the first non-stop route connecting China with the country in Asia Minor.
The new direct route is expected to serve as an air bridge promoting the economic and trade cooperation between Georgia and China, and the former is home to wine.
In particular, the new service enables Urumqi to enjoy a larger route network around the globe.
