Qantas Launches Retail Sale of Q Bag Tags
Qantas Airways Limited | Jul. 19, 2011
The new Q Bag Tag is a permanent baggage tag that lets you check your baggage at Faster, Smarter Check-in airports without attaching temporary baggage tags every time you fly.
Qantas has launched its first pop up retail store to sell its new world first technologically advanced Q Bag Tags.
The store, in the Sydney Qantas Club (Terminal 3), will remain in Sydney in July and August, move to Melbourne for September and October and then to Brisbane in November and December.
Qantas Club members and their guests can take advantage of a special deal with a "buy one get one free" offer until December. The tags normally retail at AU$49.95 each.
The pop up stores will be open during peak afternoon travel times on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Outside of these times, the tags can be purchased from the Qantas Club Lounge service desks.
The Q Bag Tag has been designed to streamline the bag drop functionality of Qantas' new faster, smarter check-in system. It replaces the need for paper tags and improves the speed and ease by which a customer moves through the airport. The tag contains world first RFID technology, allowing the tag to be electronically imprinted with the information of the passenger and their flight details.
Q Bag Tags are available to all Qantas passengers and can be used throughout the Qantas domestic network.
Q Bag Tags can be purchased online on qantas.com and the Frequent Flyer website (qantas.com/frequentflyer). Q Bag Tags are also being made available for sale through airport vending kiosks (Sydney Terminal 3, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth), and will shortly be made available at Qantas Valet Parking. Q Bag Tags are also on sale at the Sydney Qantas Meeting Rooms and will be rolled out to Qantas Meetings Rooms across Australia in coming months.
