Air Southwest to Cease Operations Sep. 30

Air Southwest will cease operations at the end of September, owing partly to the planned closure of its home base, Plymouth City Airport, in December. The small UK regional carrier had anticipated keeping its Newquay base, but ultimately decided those flights are "not viable on their own without the association with Plymouth."
All of SZ's PLH flights and NQY service to/from Glasgow, Guernsey, Jersey and Manchester will end Sep. 14. NQY services to Aberdeen, Bristol, Cork, Dublin and Leeds Bradford will end Sep. 30, "which regrettably will be the last day of Air Southwest branded flights," it said. The airline launched operations in 2003 and flies four Bombardier Dash 8-300s on regional routes in the UK and Ireland. It was initially owned by PLH owner Sutton Harbour Holdings and acquired by Eastern Airways in November 2010. Earlier this year, Sutton Harbour announced it would close PLH.
