New Terminal of Changsha Huanghua International Airport Starts Operation

Terminal 2 of the Changsha Huanghua International Airport passed the final construction inspections on June 9, 2011, and started operation on July 19, 2011. The new terminal has a total area of 212 thousand square meters, making it 6 times larger than the old one.
The new terminal of the Changsha Huanghua International Airport, the fifth largest airport in China, was officially put into operation on Tuesday, the Sanxiang City express reports.
The new terminal has a total area of 212 thousand square meters, which makes it six times larger than the previous terminal. It is ranked as the fifth largest airport in China, after the Beijing International Airport, the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, the Shanghai Pudong International Airport and the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
The new terminal with separately designed departure and arrival lounges, has less than 300 meters walking distance. It is designed to meet the requirements of an annual passenger load of 15.2 million, as well as handling 40 flights and 4,000 passengers simultaneously during peak hours.
It has also been reported that a number of projects designed to support the new airport have been completed over the past week, such as a fly-over crossing and urban freeway network traffic system.
The first terminal of the Changsha Huanghua International Airport was put into operation on August 29, 1989, and was last renovated in 1998.
