Passenger traffic at Hong Kong's airport rose 5.8% in June from a year earlier because of a continued recovery of demand from visitors and Hong Kong residents, the city's airport operator said Sunday, though cargo volumes fell as exports declined during the month.
The Airport Authority Hong Kong, which operates Hong Kong's international airport, said the airport handled 4.4 million passengers in June, up from 4.18 million a year earlier. Cargo throughput fell 7.6% to 321,000 metric tons from 347,000 tons a year earlier.
For the first half, passenger traffic at Hong Kong's airport rose 5.7% from a year earlier to 25.8 million passengers, and cargo throughput was down 2.3% at 1.9 million tons.
