Airline recruitment drives in Taiwan have always been an exciting time for both the airlines, always on the lookout for a bit of free publicity, and starry-eyed job-seekers looking for work on the carriers, considered by many young people to be a "dream job."
Taiwan's leading carrier, China Airlines, announced Thursday that it is recruiting 100 ground crew to meet the demand generated by increasing cross-strait flights, and hundreds, maybe even thousands of young boys and girls are expected to apply for the positions on offer.
Entry requirements, even for lowly ground staff, are high. CAL requires potential full-time ground staffers to hold a master's degree from home or abroad, with a Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) score higher than 600 or equivalent.
Even part-timers on hourly wages will need to have a bachelor degree and a TOEIC score higher than 550 or equivalent.
A four-week training period for successful applicants will take place in late September.
