Officials Confident Tiger Airways Will Resume Avalon Flights
ABC News (Australia) | Aug. 11, 2011
The operators of Avalon Airport are hopeful that Tiger Airways will resume its operations there before the end of the year.
The air safety regulator has lifted the suspension order and flights are due to resume at Melbourne Airport on Friday.
However flights from Avalon are suspended for the time being.
Airport chief executive Justin Giddings will meet with airline officials next week but he is confident Tiger will soon be flying again from Avalon.
"If they were going to pull out they would have done it by now," he said.
"I am hopeful they will start up before the spring [racing] carnival or at least before the Christmas rush."
While I am confident that Tiger will resume Avalon flights to a certain extent, but that base will doubtlessly be less significant for the carrier as compared to the past.
