Wealthy Travelers to Fly High at Songshan Airport

Services for wealthy business travelers will be flying high soon at Songshan Airport in Taipei.
The Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) announced yesterday that Songshan Airport will get its own aircraft depot and passages to the terminals for those flying in private jets.
Due to the airport's proximity to downtown Taipei, it has become a destination for those who get chauffeured by their own plane. CAA statistics show that a total of 367 private jets landed and departed during the past seven months.
"Business people frequently traveling around Taipei, Tokyo and Shanghai are our target clients," said Chen Tien-tsyh, CAA deputy director general.
Songshan Airport's ambition came after a recent announcement from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, which said it will also start trial operations of a private jet center next month.
The country's main gateway, Taoyuan Airport said the deluxe service includes reduced boarding procedure for international passengers from around two hours to 40 minutes.
Those who wish to use the service will be charged NT$8,000 (US$275) each time.
