Myanmar Private Airlines to Resume Flight Service in October

Yangon Airways, a Myanmar domestic private airline, will resume its flight services next month after securing the Aircraft Operation Certificate (AOC), the Yangon Airways told Xinhua Monday.
The flight service of the Yangon Airways was suspended since December last year due to the absence of such certificate.
Sale agents of the airline have started to accept ticket booking on Monday, the source said, adding that the airline will operate the flight with two ATR-72 aircraft to cover such domestic destinations as Yangon, Nyaung Oo, Mandalay, Heho, Kengtung, Tachileik, Dawei, Myeik, Kawthoung, Thandwe and Sittwe. Yangon Airways was formed as a joint venture between state-run Myanmar Airways (MA) and the Krong Sombat Co., Ltd. of Thailand in October 1995 and started it flight services in October 1996, using ATR-72 aircraft.
Currently, there are five domestic airlines in Myanmar including one state-owned, the Myanmar Airways, and four private- run ones -- Air Mandalay, Yangon Airways, Air Bagan and Asian Wings.
There is also another Myanmar airline, the Myanmar Airways International (MAI) flying solely some foreign destinations.
There are also 13 foreign airlines flying Yangon which comprise Air China, China Southern Airline, China Eastern Airlines, Thai Airways International,Indian Airlines, Air Asia Barhad's, China airlines , Silk Air, Malaysian Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Jetstar Asia, Thai Air Asia and Vietnam Airlines.
