Virgin America Flight Diverted After Mechanical Problem

A Virgin America Inc. flight bound for New York was diverted to Colorado due to mechanical problems.
Flight 28, which originated in San Francisco, landed at Grand Junction Airport at about 1 a.m. this morning "due to a mechanical issue that required inspection," an airline spokeswoman said. She did not identify the problem.
The plane, an Airbus A319, landed safely. All 111 travellers were safe and taken to a hotel while Virgin America arranged for another flight to New York. Passengers were being flown to New York later today.
The airline said it refunded the travelers their ticket costs and gave each one a US$150 credit toward future flights.
Virgin America is based in Burlingame.
