China United Airlines Flight Makes Diversion to Jiayuguan Airport over "Explosive Hoax"

According to a brief news report by Xinhua news agency, information obtained from the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China show that China United Airlines flight KN2273 was flying over the Jiayuguan area in Gansu province at approximately 17:10 (Beijing time) today when a female passenger claimed there were explosives onboard. The inflight security personnel handled the matter by undertaking the necessary control measures. Later, the flight made a diversion and landed at Jiayuguan Airport. After the flight safely landed, relevant authorities immediately evacuated passengers aboard, then all passengers and baggage underwent rigorous security screening again with no suspicious item found.
Based on preliminary investigation, the female passenger surnamed Wang, 27-year-old, was "emotionally unstable". Currently, she is in the custody of local public security authorities while the case is being processed. All other passengers are presently boarding the flight for their continuing journey to Urumqi.
