Chinese Airlines are adjusting their flight schedule, capacity and airfares to get ready for the 2011-2012 winter flight schedule effective from Oct. 30. Reporters learned that major airlines will increase their international capacity during the newly revised schedule.
The nation's flag carrier Air China announced it will increase international capacity on long-haul routes from Beijing to Puget, Saipan and Okinawa. Domestically, the Beijing-based carrier plans to open Chengdu-Yiwu and Tianjin-Harbin service during the new winter schedule.
China Southern Airlines will launch three international routes including Beijing-Guangzhou-Perth, Beijing-Guangzhou-Brisbane and Beijing-Urumqi-Istanbul services during the upcoming winter schedule. The soon-to-be-launched services to Perth and Brisbane will bring the carrier's network covering the major cities in Oceania. At home, the Guangzhou-based carrier will launch domestic services to Yinchuan and Baotou from Zhengzhou, resume Zhengzhou-Nanchang and Zhengzhou-Changchun services, as well as increase flight frequency to four domestic cities - Taipei, Guangzhou, Haikou and Sanya.
Starting from Nov. 1, Hainan Airlines will launch a non-stop flight from Beijing to Male, the capital of the Maldives. The twice-weekly service will be operated on Tuesdays and Saturdays. As the nation's fourth largest carrier, Hainan Airlines also plans to open direct flight services to Taipei from three mainland cities -- Lanzhou, Sanya and Xi'an -- in this December.
During the winter flight schedule, Shenzhen Airlines will increase the frequency of the Shenzhen-Hangzhou service to 6 flights a day. Meanwhile, the carrier will offer 6 flights a day from Shenzhen to Shanghai, 5 to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and another one to Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The Shenzhen-based airline will also launch a 7-time-weekly service from Haikou to Kunming in the near future.
