Mexican Interior Minister Francisco Blake Mora and Vice Interior Minister Felipe Zamora were killed in a helicopter crash on Friday, official sources said.
Presidential spokeswoman Alejandra Sota said the helicopter went down with eight officials on board. No one survived.
Victims also included Jose Alfredo Garcia, general director of social communication of the Interior Ministry, and three military officers, said Sota.
According to the spokeswoman, the helicopter "didn't followed the flight's itinerary" so the security protocols were activated to search the aircraft.
All eight passengers on board were found dead on a hill in the border between the central states of Mexico and Morelos, about 80 km from Mexico City, said Sota.
The Communications and Transportation Ministry is carrying out investigations.
Blake, 45, was traveling from Mexico City to the central state of Morelos. He was on the way to attending a public security meeting.
Blake was born on May, 22, 1966 and became Interior Minister on July 14, 2010, replacing Fernando Gomez Mont. He was congressman of the National Action Party (PAN).
Blake was the second interior minister during Felioe Calderon's presidency to be killed in a plane crash. On Nov. 4, 2008, Interior Minister Juan Camilo Mourino and several other people died when their small plane crashed in an accident.
President Calderon has suspended his agenda and met Blake's family to express his condolence. He also suspended his journey to Hawaii, where he would attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit on Saturday.
