Hawaiian Airlines has announced it will be touching down at New York's JFK airport in June when it launches non-stop service from New York to Honolulu.
The Aloha State's largest carrier will have direct flights between Honolulu and JFK with introductory fares of US$212 each way for economy class and US$808 each way in first class for travelers who book flights for next June by Sunday, the New York Daily News reported Friday.
Currently, Continental Airlines offers the only 10 1/2-hour nonstop flight to Honolulu, from Newark for about US$800 each way in economy class.
"New York is an important part of our growth strategy," Mike Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and chief executive officer, said in New York this week.
The New York flights would depart at 6:55 a.m. and arrive in Hawaii at 3:00 p.m., allowing tourists time to admire the Hawaiian sunset before they unpack their bags, Dunkerley said.
