The Federal Transport Minister Anthony Albanese says there is no reason why Qantas workers and management cannot get a deal done before tomorrow in the ongoing industrial dispute.

Under a Fair Work Australia ruling, Qantas and the three unions involved in the dispute have until midnight on Monday to settle their differences.

If they fail to do that the industrial umpire will move to arbitrate a binding agreement.

Mr Albanese says they should negotiate in good faith to get an outcome.

"All parties need to recognise they have a common interest, a common interest between Qantas as a successful company and its workforce and they need to act like adults and get this done," he said.

But one of the unions representing Qantas workers appears no closer to striking a deal with the airline.

Tony Sheldon of the Transport Workers Union (TWU) has accused Qantas of failing to negotiate in good faith and says more time is needed.

Mr Sheldon says suggestions made by Qantas's chief Alan Joyce that a deal is close to being struck are false.

"Well he's obviously either not reading the tea leaves or is being lied to by his own management or is telling the Australian public another porky pie," he said.

"As far as we can see, Alan Joyce is all spin and no substance."
