One in 20 Qantas Passengers Not Received Refunds
The Daily Telegraph (Australia) | Dec. 22, 2011
About one in every 20 disgruntled Qantas passengers claiming refunds over the airline's grounding have not received their money, Qantas revealed yesterday.
About 20,000 refund applications had been lodged since almost 100,000 travellers were affected by the bombshell decision to ground the entire Qantas air fleet.
But almost 1,000 claims for hotel, meal and other expenses have still not been reimbursed because they were either rejected, receipts were still being sought or applications were still being assessed.
A Qantas spokeswoman said: "Over 95 per cent of claims have been processed. Claims are generally processed the same day they are received and if there is a delay it generally means receipts need to be provided.
"As of today, there are less than 1,000 claims still open."
