Eurocopter Malaysia (EM), the helicopter manufacturer with a comprehensive network of maintenance, repair and overhaul service centres, registered a record-breaking turnover of RM426 million last year.
In a statement issued yesterday, EM said sales of new and used helicopters accounted for 77 per cent, while services accounted for 23 per cent of the total turnover.
"Among all, EM generated more than 20 per cent of its revenue expansion outside of Malaysia," it added.
The company said it continued to gain market share in Malaysia and maintained its leading position in both the civil and parapublic segment, with a 54 per cent market share, and military segment at 38 per cent.
"Of particular mention is the fact that Eurocopter's EC225 holds a 100 per cent market share in Malaysia's Oil & Gas industry in the heavy category," it said.
Going forward, EM said the construction of the Helicopter Centre, which the company would occupy as an anchor tenant, was expected to be completed by August.
"The Helicopter Centre will bring together Eurocopter Malaysia as well as BHIC AeroServices and the Eurocopter Malaysia Simulation Centre," it added.
Meanwhile, EM said the EC725 Production Programme, which was ordered by the Royal Malaysian Air Force, was on schedule. The first EC725 would be delivered in December as planned.
On another note, Eurocopter Malaysia's parent company, The Eurocopter Group, also generated a record high annual turnover of EUR5.4 billion this year or a 12.5 per cent growth from previously.
The result was achieved on the back of its long-term strategies of investing in innovation, growing the international footprint, developing services businesses and optimising internal operations.
"Deliveries of new production helicopters represented 51 per cent of Eurocopter's 2011 consolidated turnover, while support and services continued its growth to account for 38 per cent of the total.
"The remaining 11 per cent was generated by development and other activities," Eurocopter said.
