Qantas wants compensation from aircraft-maker Airbus after more cracks were found in the wings of its A380s.

The European aircraft regulator ordered the inspection of all A380s which had flown more than 1,300 times.

Qantas is currently looking at all its 12 superjumbos and have uncovered two aircraft so far with significant "type-two" cracks in their wings.

The airline maintains the cracking poses no risk to the safety of its fleet.

A Qantas spokeswoman says it is currently in discussions with Airbus about the cost implications of the latest defects in the double-decker planes.

It is not only the Australian airline dealing with the A380 problem. Emirates has taken six of its planes out of service for inspections and repairs.

Airbus claims the repair bill of toyihe cracked wings worldwide is likely to top more than AU$130 million.
