Tiger Airways Appoints Menzies Aviation as Ground Handling Agent at Perth International Airport
Tiger Airways Pte Ltd | Mar. 16, 2007
Tiger Airways, Singapore's low fare airline, has appointed Menzies Aviation as its ground handling agent for the airline's operation at Perth, Australia. Menzies Aviation will manage all of Tiger Airways' ground handling services (passenger and ramp) from March 23, 2007, coinciding with the start of the airline's services to Perth.
"We are pleased to appoint Menzies Aviation as our ground handlers in Perth. Menzies Aviation has built up an impressive track record within Australia as well as around the globe. We have worked closely with Menzies Aviation in Macau since the start of our service there in 2005, and are confident of receiving the same high level of service and cost control processes for our Perth operation," said Director of Operations, Captain Christopher Ward.
David Borthwick, General Manager for Menzies Aviation in Western Australia, confirmed the Tiger contract, which commences in March. "Over the next few weeks will be taking delivery of specialist handling equipment, sourced locally and overseas, to service the new contract."
"The addition of Ground Services in Perth to our portfolio nearly completes our dual cargo and ground services product offering at all of Australia's leading airports." said Alistair Reid, Managing Director for Menzies Aviation in Australia.
The appointment of Menzies Aviation optimizes ground and maintenance services and cost efficiency for the airline's operations. This is part of Tiger Airways true low cost business model of outsourcing ground operations at destination points to ground handling and operations specialists as part of its continuous strive for cost savings without compromising on safety, security and efficiency, which allows the airline to pass on the cost savings to its passengers by providing consistently low fares.
