SilkAir to Revise Fuel Surcharges
SilkAir (S) Pte Ltd | Mar. 23, 2007
As a result of a sustained escalation in the price of jet fuel in the past two months, SilkAir will increase its fuel surcharge for tickets issued on or after April 1:
- From US$16 per sector to US$18 per sector for all SilkAir flights except flights between Singapore and India, and between Singapore and China.
- From US$52 per sector to US$54 per sector for all SilkAir flights between Singapore and India, and between Singapore and China.
The new levels reinstate those applied prior to the reduction applied in January 2007 and are subject to official approval in some markets.
The adjustments will offer only partial relief of higher operating costs arising from recent increases in the price of jet fuel.
The steep rises in jet fuel prices follow a moderate downward movement in late 2006 and January 2007, during which SilkAir reduced the surcharges twice.
