Japan: Strike Forced ANA to Cancel 136 Domestic Flights
Apr. 11, 2007
All Nippon Airways, Japan's second largest carrier, said on April 11 that 136 domestic flights were cancelled and nearly 40 other services were delayed as a result of a strike by some pilots but no international flights were affected.
The carrier said operations returned to normal on April 12. The strike affected around 8,700 people and many of them were accommodated on later flights and services operated by other carriers, the company said. The four pilot unions that engaged in the industrial action said they plan to continue negotiations on work conditions and safety issues with the management but are looking at further industrial action on April 25.
