ExecuJet Bolsters Scandinavian Operations - Torben Jorgensen Named as General Manager
ExecuJet Aviation Group | May 25, 2007
To bolster support and control of ExecuJet's rapidly expanding fleet of business jets managed by ExecuJet Europe's Copenhagen-Roskilde Scandinavian regional headquarters, the company has appointed Torben Jorgensen as General Manager of the company's Denmark operations effective June 1.
In his capacity too as Accountable Manager responsible to the Danish Civil Aviation Authority (SLV) for the company's Danish Air Operators Certificate, he will oversee the 11 business jets in ExecuJet's Scandinavian managed fleet and the company's EASA 145 business jet and general aviation maintenance facilities at Copenhagen-Roskilde.
The appointment of Torben is timely, as ExecuJet's Denmark-controlled fleet will grow by at least another four plus aircraft over the next few months, with the addition of at least another Challenger 850 and Learjet 40XR, a Hawker 800 and a Legacy to the existing Danish-registered fleet of 11 Global Express/XRS, Challengers, Learjets and Hawker 800XP.
Torben joins ExecuJet from the Danish Civil Aviation Authority where he has served as Director Flight Operations for the past three and half years. He brings a diverse career in aviation to ExecuJet in his new role, which began in 1971 when he joined the Danish Air Force, then the Danish Navy six years later. During his tenure in the Danish Forces, Torben flew both fighter jets and helicopters, afterwards moving into commercial airline flying, piloting DC-8, DC-9, MD80 and MD90 aircraft for Scandinavia's flag carrier SAS, and combining his time as a pilot instructor.
From the end of 1999 through September 2002, Torben was a member of the then FlexJet team in Denmark, serving as Flight Operations and Training Manager. When the effects of the business aviation downturn post September 11 forced FlexJet to close its operations in Denmark, Torben briefly worked with and assisted in ExecuJet's flight operations as the company took leadership and control of what then became the only Bombardier-aligned fleet in the region.
"This new position is something I am very much looking forward to," Torben stated, adding: "ExecuJet's global reach, coupled with its policy of employing local professional talent to fill key positions, has resulted in a diverse blend of cultures complementing each other in pursuit of united business objectives which give our clients real value-added transportation solutions opportunity. I'm really looking forward to visiting our clients in the Scandinavian region to introduce myself and reassure them of ExecuJet's regional business aviation sales and support commitment."
In a joint venture with Copenhagen Airports Authority, ExecuJet also operates the small and only FBO at Roskilde Copenhagen Airport. "The charter market in Scandinavia is steadily picking up as regional economic growth climbs and there are fewer concerns about public perceptions concerning business aircraft ownership and hire. While the general acceptance of charter and ownership in Scandinavia probably lags about 12 to 18 months behind the rest of Europe, there are definite opportunities, including some exciting new prospects for operations and charter collaboration across southern Norway and Sweden," said Torben, adding that: "This in turn will drive increased traffic through the Roskilde FBO."
Offering 24/7 access, Copenhagen Airport Roskilde is located approximately 30km south west of Copenhagen city. It offers immigration and customs facilities for international traffic but it is primarily the home of general and business aviation.
ExecuJet's business in Denmark is part of Zurich-headquartered ExecuJet Aviation Group's European business aviation sales and support unit, ExecuJet Europe AG. The Copenhagen-Roskilde business operates an independent maintenance organisation which serves the needs of business aircraft operators in the Scandinavian region. It holds EASA Part 145 certification from the Danish Civil Aviation Authorities (SLV), enabling it to work on a variety of business jet, turboprop and light aircraft, as well as avionics applications such as RVSM inspections. It is also an approved Service Centre for Pilatus and acts as regional custodian of ExecuJet Aviation Group's exclusive Bombardier Global Express, Challenger and Learjet sales dealerships and the Grob Aerospace spn light jet sales agency in the Scandinavian/Nordic regions.
