An Israeli plane with 163 passengers on board made an emergency landing at a Berlin airport and a terror attack can not be ruled out, an airport spokeswoman said on May 23.
On May 22, the Israeli flight 251 touched down at Berlin's Schoenefeld airport at 10:40 p.m. (20:40 GMT) shortly after smoke was detected in the cabin, airport spokeswoman Rosemarie Meichsner said.
"An attack cannot be ruled out," she said, adding that the German Federal Aviation Agency has opened an investigation.
The passengers, including a baby, left the aircraft via emergency exits and one woman injured her arm while sliding down the emergency chute and has been taken to hospital.
The plane was flying from Tel Aviv to the German capital. Smoke was detected in the cockpit and the cabin area during landing, according to the spokeswoman.
Immigration officials checked the documents of all passengers after they left the plane, according to news reports.
On May 23, Israeli officials were at the airport to examine the accident.
A similar event occurred two months ago at Ben Gurion Airport on the outskirts of Tel Aviv when smoke was detected in an El Al plane ready to take-off.
