Twenty sleeping capsules were put into trial operation at Xi'an Xianyng International Airport in Shaanxi Province, northwest China, on Tuesday, Xi'an Evening News reports.
The fee for one capsule is 60 yuan per hour for the first two hours and 40 yuan per hour afterward. To use them for less than 30 minutes is only 30 yuan.
Each capsule covers 3 square meters and is 2.7 meters high. Inside, there is a set of bunk beds, touch-screen TV, laptop, laptop desk, LED light, electronic shutter, Wi-Fi and a dresser.
The concept of honeycomb-like sleeping capsules comes from Europe. It is a temporary private place for passengers to rest, mainly used for airports and railway stations.
"In the past, passengers had to wait and rest in seats. We set up these capsules to provide a comfortable place for them to have a good rest," said a staff member at the airport.
