Recently, the Grand China Aviation Technik Co., Ltd. (GCA Technik) completed the development and modification of the first Boeing 737-800 aircraft in-cabin Wi-Fi system. The modified prototype aircraft successfully launched a testing flight on the afternoon of July 12.
With the popularity of in-flight entertainment facilities and the development of Wi-Fi technology, the GCA Technik independently developed an in-flight Wi-Fi system with independent intellectual property rights to meet the demand for airline in-flight entertainment. It is reported that this program is China's first in-flight Wi-Fi system research and development project which is completed independently and uses the latest IEEE802.11n network technology.
The cabin wireless LAN system is composed of server, regional distributor, wireless access point, management terminal and control panel, etc. The system's features are "independence, safety and maneuverability". When the plane is cruising, passengers can get access to the Wi-Fi with iPad, laptop and other electronic devices to enjoy the video, music, games and other entertainment programs on the Wi-Fi server.
With the strengthening of humanity in modern aircraft design, most new introduced aircraft of airlines are equipped with entertainment facilities in their cabins. However, for aircraft which are not equipped with entertainment facilities, the in-cabin Wi-Fi is undoubtedly a good remedy. It is reported that the in-cabin Wi-Fi, timely launched by the GCA Technik, can add new entertainment program in time according to customer demand, which allows passengers to experience a more diversified entertainment activity and enhances the autonomy of in-flight entertainment.
