On June 16, 2012, a grand ceremony was held by AVIC Xi'an Aircraft Industry (Group) Company Ltd. (XAC), to celebrate the Modern Ark 60 aircraft's total air time reaching 150,000 hours as well as total movements exceeding 150,000. Distinguished guests and customers were present at the ceremony and witnessed this remarkable moment for the growth of the MA60 aircraft.
Jiang Jianjun, general manager of Xi'an Aircraft International Corporation (XAIC), gave an ebullient speech at the ceremony. During his speech, Jiang expressed sincere appreciation to the clients, governments, suppliers as well as the XAC employees for their continuous supports to the MA60 aircraft in the past years. "The past of MA60 was built upon everyone's joint effort; the future of MA60 is depending on more hard work and intelligence. We are genuinely expecting further collaboration among all the parties to achieve the win-win goal", said Jiang.
During the award ceremony, XAC presented the Market Development Awards, Operation Innovation Awards, Mutual Development Awards and MA Sailing Awards to China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC), AVIC International, AVIC International Leasing Co., Okay Airways Co., Ltd., Civil Aviation Flight University of China (CAFUC), Joy Air Co., Ltd., Zest Airways, Inc., Tajik Air, Air Zimbabwe, etc.
Generations of XAC employees have been persevering with the ambition of creating the native Chinese civil aviation brand. Since 2005, the MA60 aircraft has been gaining more and more recognitions from both domestic and foreign clients for its safety, economy and passenger comfort. On top of the expanding existing market, new markets in South America, Africa and the Commonwealth of the Independent States (CIS) regions are also being explored. On May 23, Ukrainian airline Mars RK signed the purchasing agreement of three MA60 aircraft with XAIC. It is the first step of the MA60 aircraft entering the European market.
As of today, over 70 MA60s have been delivered. The aircraft are currently serving more than 200 routes spreading over Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia and CIS regions. Joy Air, a Chinese domestic carrier, has topped the on-time list of all Chinese airlines for the second consecutive year. Being the only type of aircraft operated by Joy Air, the MA60 aircraft have reached a daily flight time of over 6.1 hours, which is at the same level of similar aircraft operated in the European and American markets. Besides the successful launch of the Bohai Bay routes, Okay Airways has established a new regional aviation market which is centered at Harbin and supported by the surrounding areas. Southeast Asia has been another main market for the MA60 aircraft. In addition, the MA60 aircraft are well-operated by the airlines in Laos, Indonesia, Philippines and Burma.
In the recent years, XAIC has been focusing on the customer service development. An international customer service network has been established through the constant efforts of optimizing and improving customer training, spare parts support, project & technical training as well as technical data. Providing effective, precise and swift responding capabilities to the global MA60 fleet, the network has laid a foundation for the continuous expansion of the MA60 market.
