Air China Limited said it has introduced Apple's Passbook as the new mobile boarding pass to facilitate Apple iOS 6 users.
Passbook is a new feature that is part of Apple's new iOS6 system. With the new Passbook feature, iPhone users will be able to store boarding passes, movie tickets, retail coupons and loyalty cards in one place. The mobile devices can then be scanned to board a plane, access the movie or use loyalty cards.
Since the flag carrier has updated its app to support the Passbook, the airline's customers can add their tickets directly to the Passbook and have it appear on their iPhone lock screen when they arrive at the airport.
It is learned that another Chinese carrier China Southern Airlines has joined Air China in offering support for the Passbook.
Lufthansa, American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta and Virgin Australia are among the first airlines worldwide to make the Passbook functionality available to their customers.
