On Nov. 13, Bombardier, the world's third largest commercial airplane manufacturer after Boeing and Airbus, held a press conference during Airshow China 2012 in Zhuhai. It predicts that China will become the world's second-largest commercial aircraft market by delivery amount and also the world's third-largest business aircraft market over the next 20 years.
Bombardier predicts that more and more people in China will choose to travel by air and to buy business aircraft with China's per capita GDP increasing to more than US$3,000. In the next 20 years, the Asian market's demand for the 20-149 seat commercial aircraft will account for 30% of the global demand. China's commercial aircraft demand is up to 2,220 while the total demand of Europe and Russia is 2,240. Thus China is expected to become the world's second largest commercial aircraft market by delivery amount.
Bombardier's total revenue of next 20 years will reach US$ 648 billion, 45% of which comes from the market of large business aircraft. Bombardier will deliver 1,000 business aircraft to China in the next 10 years, and 2,420 over the next 20 years. China's business aircraft fleet will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 13% and the aircraft number in fleet will reach 2,590 in 2031. China is expected to become the world's third largest business aircraft market.
Bombardier will quickly seize the emerging market of commercial and business aircraft in China with its latest planes. Its newest aircraft Learjet 75 and Learjet 85 will be put into use next year and the Global 8000 will be able to fly farther than any other business jets with a cruising distance of 14,600 km.
