Xiamen Airport Introduces Mobile Check-in Service via 2D Barcode

Passengers have been able to board flights using just a mobile phone instead of a long line of regular check-in at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN). With universal popularity of two-dimension barcode (2D barcode), XMN introduced mobile "paperless" check-in service via 2D barcode on Dec. 3.
At present, XMN provides mobile boarding options at 4 security accesses for domestic flights in total, including A, E, F and G on the third floor of the terminal, each of which is equipped with a barcode reader.
Once arriving at the airport, passengers go straight to designated security access. By scanning the 2D barcode from passengers' mobile phone, a security staff will confirm the barcode's authenticity with a handheld scanner, and then give them boarding certificates if confirmed. Passengers are advised to keep their boarding certificates probably for swiping onboard at boarding gates, reminded by XMN.
Moreover, mobile check-in is not available to passengers who need to have their baggage checked. They have to check their bags at the check-in counter on the second floor of the terminal building.
Eliminating the trouble of queuing for check-in at the airport, mobile check-in allows passengers to experience authentic "paperless" service through booking, check-in, security checking to boarding. In a word, by allowing passengers to use their mobile device, it can not only save time for passengers with more flexible service, but also conserve the counter resources to improve check-in efficiency.
