An Indonesian airlines firm, Sky Aviation, received on Wednesday the initial delivery of Russian- made commercial plane Sukhoi Super Jet 100 (SSJ 100), expecting five to join the fleet by the end of this year. "Thank God, today we received one brand new Sukhoi plane from a total of 12 we ordered until 2015," Sky Aviation Marketing General Manager Sutito Zainuddin was quoted as saying by the Antara news agency.
Sutito said the plane will commence its regular flight service on March 10, to serve flights in eastern Indonesia region, adding that it will be based in South Sulawesi province's capital of Makassar.
He added that each of passengers flying with the plane is secured with insurance scheme worth up to 1.25 billion rupiah ( about US$128,800 ).
The same type of the plane crashed in Indonesia's province of West Java during its demonstration flight in May last year, killing all 45 people onboard.
After conducting thorough investigation into the crash, Indonesian transportation safety agency of KNKT announced late last year that the crash was caused by "human error", not by persistence of technical problems in the plane.
