A brand new aircraft of China Eastern Airlines Jiangsu Co., Ltd. (MU) arrived in Nanjing from Toulouse, France on the morning of Jul. 17, which is the first Airbus A320 aircraft equipped with fuel-saving sharklets introduced by China Eastern Jiangsu.
Sharklets are wingtip devices made from light-weight composites and are 2.4 meters tall. They can save up to 4% fuel consumption and emissions by improving the aerodynamics of the aircraft, with the flexibility of either adding an additional 100 nautical miles range or increased payload capability of up to 450 kilograms. The devices are optional on newly-built A320 Family aircraft, according to Airbus.
By now, the fleet size of China Eastern Jiangsu has reached 36 aircraft, including 25 Airbus A320 aircraft, 6 Airbus A321 aircraft and 5 EMB145 jets.
