Spring Airlines Launches Maiden Flight to Taiwan's Kaohsiung

The Shanghai-based Spring Airlines is about to fly its maiden flight to Taiwan's Kaohsiung City. An A320 plane will soon take off from the Shanghai Pudong international Airport at 2:30 p.m. It marks the start of a new era in the development of Chinese mainland's privately-owned aviation industry.
A flight significant for China's aviation industry.
Spring Airlines will be the mainland's first company flying to Kaohsiung. Taiwan's second largest city, as well as a political and economic hub.
The city's tourist department is welcoming the flight...It has prepared delicate gifts for the passengers, who will also enjoy free city transportation on their 1st day in the city.
Spring Airlines has set three flights per week to Kaohsiung, on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
Juneyao Airlines, another private airline in China, has also decided to begin flights to Taiwan.
Cross-straits flights have long been regarded as a profitable route.
With the influx of private airlines, business insiders say it will inject vitality into the industry.
A private-owned Taiwan airline initiated the 1st cross-straits flight in 2003.
Chartered flights since then have provided much convenience to cross-straits communication.
On the mainland's parts, however, the flights have been monopolised by state-owned companies.
But now, the private airlines are due to make a big difference.
