Sydney Airport Congratulates Qantas on New First Lounge
May 23, 2007
On May 23, Sydney Airport has congratulated Qantas on the opening of the new First lounge at Sydney Airport's T1 International Terminal.
The CEO of Sydney Airport, Russell Balding, said that Qantas was providing a luxury travel product.
"Qantas's excellence in customer service is an important part of the airline's global reputation."
"Sydney is a long haul destination for many international travellers, so the service and facilities that Qantas provides in the new First lounge are sure to be appreciated."
"The First lounge is a great addition to Sydney Airport and I'm sure it will be valued by passengers."
"A premium area has also been installed at Sydney Airport's check-in counter D for Qantas's First Class passengers."
"Sydney Airport is home base for Qantas, and I'd like to personally congratulate the Qantas team for bringing what is probably the world's best airline lounge to Sydney Airport," Mr Balding said.
Sydney Airport was responsible for the construction of the new 2,400 square metre lounge which was handed over to Qantas for fit out in late 2006.
The construction of the AU$15 million building structure for the First lounge was a challenge as it sits on top of the existing three storey T1 International Terminal. The International Terminal was kept fully operational throughout the construction stage.
Sydney Airport continues to work with airlines and government agencies to explore ways to improve the facilitation of passengers through the terminal.
