John Holland Aviation Services Welcomed to Melbourne Airport
Melbourne Airport Inc. | Jun. 04, 2007
On June 4, Melbourne Airport has welcomed John Holland Aviation Services (JHAS) to the airport precinct, with the John Holland Group opening a fully-independent aviation maintenance operation on site.
JHAS will now operate Melbourne Airport's only independent aviation maintenance base following its acquisition of Ansett Aviation Engineering Services. The company will supply engineering support to commercial passenger and freight airlines, as well as providing one of the largest military aircraft maintenance services in Australia.
Melbourne Airport CEO Chris Barlow said the airport was pleased to welcome JHAS as a major new tenant to the airport precinct, as the airport had a strong history of partnership with John Holland Group.
"John Holland Aviation Services will continue to cement Melbourne Airport's reputation as the leading aviation maintenance hub in Victoria, Australia," said Mr Barlow.
"We have a strong history of success with the John Holland Group. Our work together on Melbourne Airport's runway widening project went on to win the 2006 Australian Construction Achievement Award, Australia's major award for construction projects."
Mr Barlow also said that the addition of JHAS to the airport was an example of the strong success of commercial and property development at Melbourne Airport.
"JHAS will be joining a fast-growing list of recent new commercial tenants at Melbourne Airport, including Australian Air Express, Caterpillar Logistics, the Reject Shop and Kathmandu, along with a further expansion of the Star Track Express transport and logistics facility."
