Argentine Domestic Flights Resumed
Jun. 12, 2007
Argentine domestic flights started again on June 13, when ground workers end their three-day strike, local media reported.
Check-in staff went on strike on June 10, calling for more protection after some were attacked by disgruntled passengers over the weekend (June 9-10), when flights were delayed because of thick fog, and a shorter work day.
Mitre radio quoted union representative Paula Aragon as saying that "We're showing our willingness to negotiate with the company."
The airlines threatened on June 12 to fire staff that did not return to work.
The strike stranded thousands of domestic travelers at the Argentine capital's main domestic airport.
Aerolineas Argentinas and its subsidiary Austral, which fly to 33 domestic locations, cancelled all of their flights from Buenos Aires' Jorge Newbery airport.
