Chongqing: Sniffer Dogs From Abroad to Aid Airport Quarantine Staff
China Daily | Jun. 26, 2007
Since June 21, two dogs have been helping quarantine staff at the Jiangbei Airport in Chongqing to sniff out suspicious items. This is the first time dogs are being used for this role at the airport.
The dogs have been brought in from abroad and trained at the Kunming Police Dog Training Center in Yunnan. They live in a single room equipped with air-conditioner. Two vets take care of them round the clock and they are not allowed to mingle with other dogs.
The duo has so far found cuttlefish and fruits that are banned from being taken into Chongqing.
