Three Killed in Plane Crash in South Kenya
Jul. 04, 2007
A light charter plane flying from Nairobi crashed near Kenya's southwestern national park of Masai Mara, killing a pilot and two passengers on July 3.
Area police boss Patrick Wambani said the small Cessna aircraft belonging to Boscovic airline took off at Wilson Airport, the busiest airport in east and central Africa, and crashed in very bad terrain and was later spotted by a fixed wing plane.
"Three people were killed in the aircraft which crashed into the Loita Hills, near the Masai Mara game reserve," Wambani told Xinhua by telephone from the scene.
He said the identities of those on board the plane were not immediately clear.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has dispatched a helicopter to the site of the crash and the area police boss said the identities of the victims would be established once the wreckage is found.
