CEB Carried More Than 4.7 Million Passengers in 12 Months Ending June 2007
Cebu Pacific Air | Jul. 13, 2007
Gokongwei-owned airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) carried more than 4.7 million passengers for the period July 2006 to June 2007. This is equivalent to an 89% growth for the airline, compared to the same period last year.
Total passenger carriage increased from almost 2.5 million for the period July 2005 to June 2006, to a little over than 4.7 million in July 2006 to June 2007. This is divided into CEB domestic operations, which grew from more than 2.2 million to almost 3.99 million passengers, and international operations, which almost tripled from almost 271,000 to more than 730,000 passengers.
CEB VP for Marketing and Product, Candice Iyog said, "The continued growth of Cebu Pacific shows that more Filipinos are able to travel by air because of the lowest fares we offer to all the destinations we operate."
"At the rate we are going, we are one of the fastest growing airlines in the world and this is something we, a Filipino carrier, are very proud of." she added.
CEB has also recently placed an order for up to 20 Airbus A320 aircraft and up to 14 ATR 72-500 aircraft. This will be used to achieve CEB's target of carrying up to 15 million passengers by 2013.
She added that the past 12 months have been very busy for CEB with the opening of three new domestic and five new international destinations.
"With our upcoming China destinations within the next few months, along with the delivery of new Airbus and ATR aircraft in 2008, the next year will be just as busy," she further added.
Now in its 12th year, CEB has the youngest fleet in the Philippines with an average age of one year. CEB operates 14 brand new Airbus aircraft to its 20 domestic and soon to be 12 regional destinations with the addition of Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou, and Macau in September and October 2007.
