A cabin crew member on an All Nippon Airways flight bound for Tokyo from Naha was injured on July 12 when the Boeing 747, carrying 527 passengers and crew members, was apparently hit by turbulence, the airline said.
The 24-year-old woman broke a rib when she hit a cart while the jet was flying at an altitude of 12,000 meters over Niijima Island of the Izu island chain at around 2:30 p.m. The woman was taken to a hospital after the flight arrived in Tokyo.
The injury will take about one month to heal, the airline said.
