Air China Awarded "Most Globally Competitive" Chinese Company
Air China Limited | Jul. 31, 2007
Air China has earned a place on the 2007 award list for China's "Most Globally Competitive Chinese Company" Award. The award list, with Air China ranked among the top twenty companies, is released by the Global Entrepreneurs Journal and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.
The "Most Globally Competitive Chinese Company" Award is the first to assess the ability of Chinese companies to survive and compete in the global competitive environment. More than four thousand Chinese companies were listed in the competition.
The awarding process took six months to evaluate three major components, which were operating performance, sustainable competitiveness, and international corporate culture. Companies were also evaluated on eight specific standards, including overseas operating performance, global business development, production and purchasing management, global marketing, international human resource, the development of science and technology innovation, overseas brand building, and cross-cultural adaptation.
For financial measures, Air China's capitalization currently exceeds 120 billion yuan, or US$21.2 billion. As well, Air China's annual profit has ranked ninth in the global aviation industry in each of the past two years. Air China's contribution to the total profit of the Chinese aviation industry has increased year by year, and last year Air China's profit was nearly double the entire profit of the Chinese aviation industry in 2006.
In marketing areas, Air China's brand awareness ranks first in Chinese aviation, and Air China will become a full member of the prestigious, global Star Alliance later this year.
