A water cannon salute Thursday welcomed Air Incheon (KJ) Flight KJ2316 at Yantai Laishan International Airport (YNT), which is the South Korean cargo carrier's maiden flight from Incheon to Yantai, the airport said Friday.
Air Incheon launched the cargo service with a Boeing 737-400 Freighter. It is initially scheduled to offer three flights weekly, and will increase the frequency to 5 times in the near future.
Currently, there are 38 passenger flights between Yantai and Seoul, and the number will increase to 52 in June. In terms of cargo flights, Asiana Airlines (OZ) operates one Yantai-Seoul flight per week using a Boeing 747 Freighter, and China Postal Airlines (8Y) offers 5 non-stop flights weekly. In 2013, Yantai airport transported up to 100,000 passengers and 13,000 tons of cargo to Seoul.
