China Aviation Daily | Jun. 14, 2014
Today, June 14, is the first anniversary of the A350 XWB's maiden flight.
The "power of Airbus people" in bringing the A350 XWB programme to flight is discussed by Patrick du Ché, the Head of Development Flight Test, who recalls the next-generation jetliner's maiden takeoff on June 14, 2013, its flyby at the Paris Air Show one week later, followed by the fast-paced test campaign that has logged nearly 2,000 flight hours during the first year of development and certification activity.
In addition, the A350 XWB MSN2 has completed successfully the "Early Long Flight" campaign involving two flights with passengers operated consecutively by Air France and Lufthansa cabin crews on June 2 and June 3. Early Long Flights are an important achievement towards the A350's entry into service.
The A350 XWB's certification testing is progressing well, and is on track for certification in Q3 2014, to be followed by entry into service in Q4.
