Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN)'s Terminal 4 is expected to be completed by the end of July and put into operation at the end of 2014, Xiamen Daily reported on June 21.
According to the departments concerned, once T4 put into use, Xiamen Airport's T3 will be dedicated to operate flights of Xiamen Airlines (MF) and China Southern Airlines (CZ), as well as international services; while T4 will mainly operate domestic flights of other airlines, including Shandong Airlines (SC), China Eastern Airlines (MU), Hainan Airlines (HU), Spring Airlines (9C) and Air China (CA).
The new terminal building T4 will cover a total construction area of 100,000 square meters in its first phase and is designed to handle 12 million passengers annually. Now the building's external and internal decoration have entered the final phrase. In order to cope with the massive passenger flow with effective separation, the boarding bridge in the terminal is designed to look like an "L", improving the operational efficiency of the airport.
After the construction of T4 is completed, Xiamen Airport will be equipped with a 810,000-square-meter tarmac, with 90 aircraft stands, and a 23,4000-square-meter terminal, which is capable of dealing with 27 million passengers annually (the maximum capacity of one-runway airport).
