Finnair has introduced a new Premium Lounge to complement the current Finnair Lounge in the non-Schengen area of Helsinki Airport.
The Premium Lounge, designed by the Helsinki firm dSign Vertti Kivi & Co., is available to Finnair Plus Platinum and Gold members and their guests only, as well as frequent flyer cardholders with equivalent status at fellow oneworld airlines.
The Premium Lounge is a showcase for classic Nordic design in harmony with Finnish nature, with dynamic changes in light, colours and video projections in tune with the seasons and time of day, all combining to create a unique atmosphere of calm. High-quality complimentary meals and drinks, including wines and spirits, are plated on Marimekko tableware or served in Iittala Ultima Thule glasses - first designed for Finnair in 1968 by Tapio Wirkkala. Carefully selected furniture in the lounge includes legendary Tulip and Womb chairs created by Eero Saarinen.
The 407-square-meter space features different areas for working and relaxation and comfortably seats up to 122 guests.
As part of the overall upgrade in lounge services in Helsinki, the customers of both the Premium Lounge and the adjoining original Lounge will also enjoy access to completely new private shower suites, as well as a Finnish sauna. Towels and forest berry-based shampoos, shower gels and lotions from Finland are provided.
